Have you considered getting in touch with Fox River CAUSE (citizens against underwater soil & erosion) or the Waterford Waterway Management District (WWMD)? Both do periodic cleanup programs along the Fox.
Last year CAUSE provided a number of plants for a rain garden next to the Waterford Village Hall - certainly a suitable conservation project for 9 year olds. There is also a gentleman at the WI DNR by the name of Brock Woods I believe who works with the little beetles that eat the purple loosestrife. "Cleaning up the water" could also involve removing invasive species. Along those lines, there is a Carp-O-Rama in Waterford each spring where anglers are encouraged to kill as many Carp as possible. Your boys may be able to help distribute literature, run a concession stand, take registrations... -------------------- Pack 324, Waterford
